Rites, (commissioned by Dance Initiative Greater Manchester), is a new work by Greater Manchester's own Company Chameleon. Rites looks at the coming of age, peer pressure and at those Rites which have shaped the duo as individuals and as friend. It asks the question, What does it mean to be a Man?
Building upon a long standing collaboration Before Night Fell, directed by award winning choreographer Beth Cassani is an exploration of male identity, friendship, camaraderie and bravery. In this work they develop concepts of physical risk, game structures, intimacy, vulnerability, power and manipulation.
These performances are co-promoted by Dance Initiative Greater Manchester and the Lowry.
To book your tickets call 0870 787 5780 or info@thelowry.com
In addition this project has been supported by the University of Salford and Arts Council North West.
Company Chameleon is the dance theatre company established by Anthony Missen and Kevin Turner. Their 15 year collaboration has taken them through youth dance theatre, formal training at Northern School Contemporary Dance and worked with some of the foremost British and International Dance companies including Scottish Dance Theatre, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Cie Willi Dorner (Austria), Rubberbandance (Canada).
