See us at Manchester Day

Dance Manchester & Walk the Plank have collaborated on ‘Hey Presto!’ a special community dance intervention in this year’s Manchester Day parade.

After leading the parade in 2015 & performing last year at Great Northern Square, we return with 6 youth & adult community dance groups taking part from across Greater Manchester. This will be an opportunity for the dance leaders to gain experience of parade work, choreographed by the brilliant Jeanefer Jean-Charles.

Hey Presto! promises to add another layer of magic to the predominantly people-powered parade. Jeanefer Jean-Charles is a highly reputed choreographer & mass movement director of stadium & large scale events, including being the Mass Movement Coordinator on all four London 2012 Olympic Ceremonies. The choreography captures this year’s Abracadabra genre perfectly with a blend of fun, inclusiveness and high-energy performance.

This year the theme is all about MAGIC! An abundance of magical moves have been choreographed and groups taking part in the parade are working really hard to create something extra special to share with the people of Manchester as the community come together to celebrate all that is great about this wonderful city.

“It is such a pleasure to be back working on the Manchester Day parade for the third year running, with Dance Manchester and Walk the Plank. Wishing everyone involved good luck.” – Jeanefer Jean-Charles
